The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Republican Assembly Football Team played a football match with the Turkish Grand National Assembly team to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey and the 40th anniversary of the TRNC. The match ended in a 3-3 draw.
In the match, which took place at the Nirvana Cosmopolitan Hotel field in Antalya, the Parliamentary team included Interior Minister Dursun Oğuz, Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı, UBP MPs Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, Hasan Küçük and Ahmet Savaşan, CTP MPs Teberrüken Uluçay and Sami Özuslu, Alsancak-Lapta-Çamlıbel Mayor Fırat Ataser, 9th term MP Hasan Büyükoğlu, Parliamentary Financial, Technical, Parliamentary Services Director, 9th term MP Presidential Advisor Mesut Genç, 5th, 6th, 7th term MP Kadri Fellahoğlu, 5th, 6th term MP Mehmet Ceylanlı.term MP Hasan Büyükoğlu, Parliamentary Financial, Technical and Parliamentary Services Director, 9th term MP Presidential Advisor Mesut Genç, 5th, 6th, 7th term MP Kadri Fellahoğlu, 5th, 6th term MP Mehmet Ceylanlı, former Yeniboğaziçi Mayor Mustafa Zurnacılar and Parliamentary staff.
According to the statement made by the Assembly, TRNC Antalya Consul General Cem Topçu also watched the match.
CHAMPION ANGELS NOT FORGOTTEN
A ceremony was held before the match which started with a moment of silence.
During the ceremony, photos were taken with the flags of TRNC and Turkey, while the Republican Assembly team took place on the field with a banner reading “Champions do not die... Isias is our common cause”.
THE MATCH ENDED IN A 3-3 DRAW
While the match ended in a 3-3 draw, the goals of the Republican Assembly Team were scored by Alsancak-Lapta-Çamlıbel Mayor Fırat Ataser, Assembly Financial, Technical and Parliamentary Services Director Hasan Büyükoğlu and Assembly press officer Burhan Canbaz.
Trophies and medals were awarded after the match.
Adem Tatlı, 25th term Giresun MP Adem Tatlı, President of the Parliamentarians Sports Club of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, thanked the TRNC MPs for their invitation to the match and said that they would like to play the next match in Cyprus.
Tatlı stated that they will contribute their best to make the TRNC heard in the world arena in every field.
In his speech, Hasan Büyükoğlu, the captain of the Republican Assembly Team, thanked the Turkish Grand National Assembly for the invitation and expressed his happiness to be in the Motherland.
Büyükoğlu stated that they were celebrating the 100th anniversary of Turkey and the 40th anniversary of the TRNC and that they shared the pain and joys as partners.
